README for data file sic87dd_ioexposure.dta
David Dorn

Notes:
Trade data from U.N. Comtrade have been cleaned using the procedure of Feenstra et al. (NBER Working Paper no. 11040, January 2005), and coverted from HS 6-digit codes to sic87dd codes using a crosswalk provided at www.ddorn.net/data.htm. Inter-industry linkages are based on the 1992 BEA Input-Output tables. The variables "d_up_*" indicate shocks that propagate upstream, i.e., the exposure of supplier industries to rising Chinese import penetration at the level of their customer industries (as well as customers' customers, etc.). The variables "d_down_*" indicates shocks that propagate downstream, i.e., the exposure of industries to shocks at the level of their supplier industries (and suppliers' suppliers, etc.).
